#bayarea #bikerides #bikepacking #gravelbike Day 1: • Bikepacking from Oakland to Samuel P. Tayl... After a long ride the day before, I decided to make Day 2 of my bikepacking trip a little more relaxed—but still scenic. Instead of pedaling all the way back to the East Bay, I planned a route that ended with two ferry rides, giving me more time to enjoy the views and less time in the saddle. First, I had to climb White Hill out of Samuel P. Taylor State Park. It was a tough wake-up call for tired legs, but the reward was a smooth descent into Fairfax, where I stopped for a much-needed breakfast. From there, I made my way out toward the Tiburon Peninsula, riding the stunning Paradise Drive—a winding, quiet road with amazing water views. It lived up to its name. I reached Tiburon just in time to catch the ferry to San Francisco. Luckily, it wasn’t packed with tourists like the Sausalito ferry usually is. The skies were perfectly blue, and the views were unbeatable—Mt. Tamalpais, Golden Gate Bridge, and dozens of sailboats scattered across the bay. From SF, I hopped on a second ferry back to Oakland. Watching the Bay Bridge and city skyline glide by while standing on the deck with my bike was the perfect way to wind down the trip. I even took some time to check over my bikepacking setup and reflect on the gear that worked—and what didn’t. I landed at Jack London Square, but the trip wasn’t quite over yet—I still had about 15 miles to ride home. Tired, happy, and already dreaming about the next one.
