Fondly known as Uncle Kun (根叔), the veteran used to be a Hong Kong masterchef with renowned hotels and restaurants, including Jumbo Floating Restaurant, Shangri-La Hotel's Shang Palace and Mouth Restaurant. Uncle Kun opened this stall in 2003 after his retirement offering his signature gourmet dishes. His stall may be small, but his dishes are plentiful and varied. On the menu are dim sum, noodles, congee and steamed rice pots. His signature dim sum dishes are the oblong shaped Lo Mai Gai, Siew Mai, yam cake, hot & sour dumpling, crispy tofu roll, just to mention a few. All of them are well packed with quality ingredients of restaurant standard, yet offered at hawker price. Uncle Kun also makes steamed rice, which is available from Wednesdays to Fridays. This is HappyCat’s second time visiting them to capture the making process of steamed rice. The fragrant dish is filled to the brim with ingredients, that can include chicken, pork, chicken feet, salted egg yolk and preserved vegetables. Watch the video for a glimpse into how Uncle Kun and his family prepare the dim sum and many other dishes! Proudly brought to you by HappyCat.黑皮猫.
