Gabion Bund in Kolai Palas Kohistan Protects Communities from Floods

In Badakot UC Haraan, Kolai Palas, Kohistan, recurring floods have caused severe agricultural and population losses. As a snow-fed region, seasonal glacial melt significantly increases the vulnerability of communities living along riverbanks. Through the WRAP Project, funded by Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), WWF-Pakistan supported the construction of a gabion bund to help stabilize riverbanks, reduce erosion, and safeguard both farmland and livelihoods. This intervention is a crucial step toward strengthening climate resilience and protecting vulnerable mountain communities from future flood risks.
