DAY 2 Matatiele to Langeni Pass Langeni Pass on Two Wheels Capturing the Beauty and Adventure of South Africa's Mountain Roads - Part 2 The primary road connecting Matatiele to Ugie is the R56. This route offers scenic views of the Eastern Cape's countryside, characterized by rolling hills, grasslands, and occasional patches of forest. You come across locals going about their daily lives including farmers tending to their fields, herders guiding livestock offering a glimpse into the rural lifestyle of the Eastern Cape. After a journey of some 75 kilometers you'll arrive in Ugie. situated in a picturesque setting, surrounded by hills and greenery. I had researched restaurants located in Ugie and had identified a restaurant by the name of “The Cock and Cat” which grasped my interest and curiosity. On arrival they recommended that we move our bikes into their back yard for safety and security reasons, which we gratefully accepted with all our luggage and equipment secured to our bikes. We could relax and enjoy our scrumptious breakfast without fear or interruption. We were not to be disappointed with our choice as the breakfast was not only very tasty but the menu items proved entertaining with their choice of options. The Cock and Cat was in fact also a bed and breakfast which we could commit to memory for future reference. The restaurant just had so much character with numerous interesting tasty treats and souvenirs to take along with us as a reminder of our “out of the ordinary” experience.
