IN STEREO! This is the ENTIRE marching performance of the Pennsylvania Military College Band in the 1965 National ROTC Band Association's Competition at the New York World's Fair on May 8, 1965. The PMC Band's drum major is Cadet Captain Gerald M. McAteer, then of Elmwood Park, NJ. The PMC Band took second place overall and first place in the marching phase of the competition. The Band's concert show is also available on You Tube. East Tennessee State University took the first place trophy for the concert phase which was weighted slightly higher and gave them the top prize. At the 1964 NROTCBA competition, the PMC Band had placed third, overall. The site of the competition was the Singer Bowl at the New York World's Fair at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York. Singer Bowl is now named Louis Armstrong Stadium and is part of the USTA National Tennis Center, home of the US Open. The exciting New York World's Fair ran for two years (mid-April to mid-October) in 1964 and 1965. Unfortunately, the NROTCBA competition was not open to World's Fair visitors, a regrettable decision, so most of the grandstands were empty, except for family members and friends, as well as other bands. The Band's performance features: The Standard of St. George March Grandioso The Iowa Bandmasters Association March Them Basses Pennsylvania Military College (PMC) became Widener College (later University) in 1972.
