Join our Daily Email Offer List: https://cdn.forms-content.sg-form.com... This wine checks a lot of boxes. Greatness. Credibility. Serious pedigree. And yes, a very compelling deal. Mt. Brave is the Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon project from the Jackson family’s ultra high end Spire Collection, crafted by Chris Carpenter, one of the most accomplished winemakers in Napa Valley. This is a single estate, single vineyard mountain Cabernet from one of Napa’s most distinctive sites. Mount Veeder is not like other Napa mountains. It produces Cabernets with blue and black fruit character, intense structure, and real mountain grip, but always with a sense of polish and balance. This vineyard delivers power without losing elegance. The wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of supporting varieties, aged in a high percentage of new oak. Yet despite that, the wine does not show overt oakiness. The fruit, structure, and density are so strong that everything stays in balance. In the glass, this is serious mountain Cabernet. Deep color. Aromas of blue fruit, spice, stone, and mineral character. The palate is dense and chewy, but refined. The tannins are abundant yet fine, with polish up front and unmistakable mountain character on the finish. This is textbook Mount Veeder, executed at the highest level. Old soul Napa Cabernet with modern precision. The scores tell the story. Ninety nine points from James Suckling. Ninety seven from Decanter. Ninety seven from Tasting Panel. At its original $125 price, this wine was not out of line for what it is. But here is where things get interesting.
