Did you know that a majority of the United States landmass is serviced by co-op utilities? This video is the first session of the four-part Power by the People learning series, which gives member-owners of rural electric cooperatives the tools and resources they need to effectively address energy issues at their electric co-ops. Presenters Allie Sargent of the Susitna River Coalition and Tara Greiman of the Wisconsin Farmers Union talk about how to start having productive organizing conversations with rural residents and co-op member-owners. For folks who less-familiar with electric co-ops, there is an overview of the recently-released Electric Cooperative Organizing Toolkit, available for free here: https://www.ruralpower.us/toolkit These sessions are free to attend & participate. RSVP here (before it ends): https://forms.gle/oht1UcGA8pktfG5j9 This series is produced by the Rural Power Coalition (RPC), which is made up of 19 rural place-based organizations across the country that care about the future of rural electric cooperatives, rural communities, and the modernization of the US energy system. The Rural Power Coalition envisions rural energy systems that are community-driven, reliable, and affordable while supporting healthy communities, well-paying jobs, and the building of rural wealth.
