On November 17, 2025, the Rural Power Coalition launched the Electric Cooperative Organizing Toolkit—a 98-page resource for member-owners and others interested in understanding how to make positive changes in their own local energy ecosystem, at the utility level. This is a recording of the call during which the toolkit was launched. During this launch event, attendees heard from RPC members Deborah Opie from GCV Education Fund, Tara Greiman of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, Philip Fracica of Renew Missouri, and others. Shareable’s Aaron Fernando and Tom Llewellyn presented the toolkit and reviewed a few key sections. The Electric Cooperative Organizing Toolkit focuses on an often-overlooked part of the United States’ energy ecosystem: rural electric cooperatives. These member-owned utilities serve 42 million residents across the United States and offer a powerful way for regular people to work toward positive change on issues of energy affordability, reliability, and sustainability.
