Never Before Seen: MBTA Locomotive Runs on the Wye in Brunswick, ME for the First Time Ever

If you are interested in more content from me, my photography can be viewed on Instagram at:   / rail_spike_productions   About this video: On May 24, 2025, MBTA GP40MC-3 1129 led Amtrak Downeaster train 695 from Boston, MA to Brunswick, ME. The footage from my chase of this train can be viewed in my previous video (posted right before this one). Once 695 got to Brunswick, they dropped off passengers before shoving the set out of the station towards the Amtrak facility. After clearing the crossing, 1129 was disconnected from the north end of the set and pulled forward to access the wye adjacent to the mainline. I got footage of them moving along both legs of the wye and back out to the main on the other side of 695’s set. They then connected to P42DC 106 on the south end, now with the 1129 facing towards the Amtrak facility. I got one more shot of them as they pulled the train south into the yard from this point where they also met Downeaster train 697 heading into Brunswick. 1129 was returned to the MBTA in Boston the following day. To my knowledge, this is the only time an MBTA locomotive has accessed the wye track in Brunswick, as all other MBTA locomotives that traveled up this far north in recent history all returned to Boston facing the same direction they left in. If anyone has knowledge that contradicts what I have said here, please let me know and I will be sure to adjust any information that I have posted.
