Welcome to a video that serves as a bridge, not a barrier; an initiative to build understanding and foster unity among the followers of two great monotheistic faiths: Islam and Christianity. Inspired by the teachings of the Quran and deeply rooted in Islamic spirituality, this video aims to present select verses and themes that highlight the commonalities, mutual respect, and brotherhood that should ideally exist between Muslims and Christians. "This [Quran] is a declaration for [all] humanity, and this is a guide, and admonition for those conscious of God." (Quran 3:138) — This video, much like the Quranic verse mentioned, aspires to be a guide and a means of mutual understanding between people of different faiths. “Among the People of the Scripture [the Bible] are those who believe in God, and what is revealed to you, and what was revealed to them, and they are humbly submissive to God.” (Quran 3:199) — Respect and humility can be universal values that both communities should share. Our aim here is not to delve into theological debates, but to extend a hand of friendship based on the teachings of the Quran, which states: "Say, 'O People of the Scriptures [the Bible], let us come to common terms - that we will worship none but God, associate none with Him, nor take one another as lords instead of God.' But if they turn away, then say, 'Bear witness that we are Musleemoon [those who submit].'" (Quran 3:64). It is pertinent to mention that the Quran asserts, "We surely sent a messenger to every community, saying, 'Worship God and shun the false gods.' But some of them were guided by God, while others were destined to stray…" (Quran 16:36). In line with this, the focus here is not to question the faith of others but to acknowledge that the essence of all religious teachings is to guide humanity towards a just, peaceful, and ethical life. The Quran emphasizes that each faith has its own set of adherents who are earnestly seeking the truth. "Yet they are not all the same: there are some among the People of the Book [Bible] who are upright, who recite God’s revelations throughout the night, prostrating [in prayer]. They believe in God and the Last Day, encourage good and forbid evil, and race with one another in doing good. They are truly among the righteous." (Quran 3:113-4) "There is to be no compulsion [forcing others] in religion. Surely, the right path has become distinct from the wrong." (Quran 2:256) This verse sets the tone for interfaith dialogue, which should be grounded in mutual respect, rather than proselytization. "And your God is One God. There is no God except Him, the Most-Gracious, Most-Merciful." (Quran 2:163) — Both faiths are rooted in the worship of one God, and this serves as a strong foundational basis for a dialogue. The video covers various topics including the shared history of Prophets, as mentioned in: "Say, 'We believe in God, and what is revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and Jacob, and the descendants, and what was given to Moses, and Jesus, and the Prophets from their Lord – we do not make a distinction between them, and to Him we are Musleemoona [submissive].'" (Quran 3:85) So, whether you are Muslim, Christian, or from any other faith or background, we hope this video serves as a thoughtful contemplation point for interfaith understanding and coexistence. "Their guidance is not on you, but God guides whom He wills …" (Quran 2:272) As the Quran teaches us, we have a shared responsibility to promote peace, love, and understanding: "So if they argue with you, say, 'I have submitted myself to God, and so have my followers. And ask those who were given the Scriptures, and the illiterate people, “Have you submitted yourselves to God?” If they submit, they will be rightly guided. but if they turn away, then your duty is only to convey [the message]. And God is All-Seeing of His servants." (Quran 3:20) In the spirit of brotherhood, let us set aside our differences and seek common ground, as directed by the wisdom of the Quran. #Quran #God #Christianity #Islam #InterfaithDialogue #Unity #Brotherhood #Monotheism
