Welcome to Re:Orient, a podcast by Asia Society India and Dalberg that covers the most pressing issues in South Asia, from AI and education to air pollution and the changing geopolitical order. Inakshi Sobti, CEO Asia Society, and Gaurav Gupta, Global Managing Partner Dalberg Advisors, bookend each episode with key questions that lie at the heart of the issue, giving us insights on where South Asia lands on each theme. #ReOrientPodcast #ReOrientSouthAsia #SouthAsiaInFocus #ReOrientTheFuture #SouthAsia Health systems often fail to deliver results that patients expect of the care they receive. Why is this the case? Why is healthcare not working for the people it’s meant to serve? Because often, systems are not designed for the patient. In this episode, we discuss how human-centered care delivery can lead to better outcomes. One of the ways in which healthcare can be effectively delivered is by way of tech, AI in particular. AI has the power to provide cheaper, more accessible healthcare to the underprivileged, for instance. We talk about what that means for the medical profession. Finally, we discuss healthcare financing, which is particularly relevant in light of the global funding cuts in recent months. There are signs that a “decolonization” of healthcare is afoot in the developing world, a reformation that involves multilateral alliances and a greater degree of self-reliance among institutions and countries that depend heavily on foreign aid.
