Join us as we explore the abandoned Ballysaggartmore Towers, a set of stunning Gothic follies perfect for urbex enthusiasts in Lismore, Ireland. 🏛️ The Ballysaggartmore Towers are two ornate entrance lodges that once marked the entrance to the former Ballysaggartmore Demesne. Built in 1834 by Arthur Keily-Ussher, these impressive structures were designed to be far more elaborate than the plain Ballysaggartmore House, reflecting the ambitions of their owner. Keily-Ussher constructed the towers in an effort to rival the grandeur of nearby Lismore Castle. However, the expense of building such elaborate structures ultimately bankrupted him. After his death in 1862, the Ballysaggartmore Estate was sold, leaving the towers abandoned and slowly falling into ruin. Today, the Ballysaggartmore Towers remain a hauntingly beautiful example of Ireland’s architectural follies. Though abandoned, a walking trail now allows visitors to explore the towers up close. Their striking presence makes them one of the most fascinating abandoned landmarks in Co Waterford. Urban exploration in Ireland often uncovers hidden pieces of the past and these forgotten towers tell a story of ambition, decline and the enduring charm of Ireland’s abandoned architecture. 🌳 Read the full story and see more photos on our blog: https://curiousabandoned.com/ballysag... #lismore #ireland #urbanexploration #urbex #abandoned ________________________________ Welcome to Curious Abandoned! 🧭 I'm fascinated with abandoned places and love exploring whenever I come across one.
