I like to refer to the Raton Subdivision as the line lost in time, because it just is generations behind, from wig wags, to semaphores, to Serchlights to bridges to signage, its just living in a different time. The Ex ATSF (Now BNSF) Raton Sub is the mainline from La Junta CO to Las Vegas NM, mainly known for The 3% Grade Raton Pass, and also its historic railroad equipment such as Semaphores, Wig Wags etc. Unfortunately since 2008 this line doesn't see the traffic it once did, now only seeing 2 daily Amtrak, an occasional tower train from Trinidad to La Junta, Mow Trains, and very very very rarely a reroute On July 5th 2020 me and Hector decided to take a visit down here for a couple days. On the first day we chased Amtrak to Wagon Mound and Back, while the 2nd day we would have done the same thing if we didn't get destracted by the BNSF tower train and if #4 wasn't delayed a day. I kinda wish I would have gotten a better shot of the semaphores but oh well, next time! And yes I wanna come back here sometime soon!
