Hiking to Stuart Lake and Horseshoe Lake in The Enchantments near Leavenworth - Leavenworth Washington is host to many incredible hiking opportunities. Horseshoe Lake is definitely an unknown alpine lake in the Leavenworth area and rarely sees many visitors. If you are looking to get away from the numerous hikers attempting the Enchantments Loop then look no further than the hike up to Horseshoe Lake. This secretly situated alpine lake sits below Mount Stuart in the Stuart Range just minutes from Leavenworth. Horseshoe Lake via the Stuart Lake Trailhead is a perfect alternative to the popular and consistently overcrowded Colchuck Lake in the Enchantments Loop. The trailhead from Horseshoe Lake is the Stuart Lake Trailhead. Follow the trail around and past Stuart Lake and continue through blown down trees and a beautiful mountain meadow up towards the cirque in which Horseshoe Lake sits. There are plenty of places to camp or just enjoy the beautiful surrounding glacial tipped mountains of the Stuart Range in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
