Today was the product of a long duration of negotiations and coordination from BNSF, Metrolink, and the SCRM to bring two new locomotives to the museum. After years of acquiring both the repainted famous Bicentennial ATSF 5704 SD45-2, and venerable Coaster F40 SDNX 2105, the museum was finally able to get them taken from their storage location in Commerce, along the BNSF transcon and Perris Valley lines, to the museum. Today I chased the BNSF R-CAL9021, an extra roadswitcher job from the Santa Ana River Canyon, all the way to the museum in Perris down the historic San Jacinto Branch Line. I started high above the tracks in the Santa Ana River Canyon for my first catch. Here, 3 GP60M-3s that are currently under assignment for the BNSF SanJac local were pulling the two engines at high speed east around a horseshoe curve. I was able to get ahead of the train in Riverside on the BNSF San Bernardino Subdivision one more time to get them at the old Santa Fe station location of Casa Blanca. My next shot was on the Metrolink Perris Valley Subdivision, where after seeing an opposing Metrolink train, the train rounded the sharp connecting curve that rarely ever gets a BNSF movement on it. From here, I got ahead of them at CP Eastridge, before catching them at Allesandro as they ran around. The SD45-2 was now leading, and I caught them at several more locations in Riverside and Perris before the museum. I then relocated to SCRM museum trackage to see the SCRM power pick up the train after the BNSF train stopped south of the Perris Downtown Metrolink Station to wait for the exchange. I was able to watch venerable U25B SP 3100 shove in to make the hook onto the pieces of equipment. I then caught them at one location on a dead end, before seeing them pull into the museum where another piece of museum equipment, Alco S4, SP 1474, shoved the two pieces onto the platform for display. Thanks for watching!
