Doug Copley's Lineside Images 'Doug Copley's Lineside Images' are 68 titles filmed 1980's, 1990's & 2000's variously 12-90 minutes long. They come with Doug's own commentary and tend to follow lines of route, or particular workings, filmed over multiple return visits. Doug's videos often include interludes of impressively vocal bird song! In Alfred Hitchcock (filmmaker) style, Doug occasionally makes brief cameo appearances in his own films. Doug Copley Doug gave annual shows to Peak Rail Sheffield Branch. When he died in 2008 his films were kindly made available to the Peak Railway Association by his family so that appreciative enthusiasts can continue to enjoy his work in his memory. During his working life as a steelworks commissioning engineer he travelled extensively and the collection includes South America, South Africa, India, Turkey (steam), and Australia. The UK collection includes many secondary lines, and also industrial railways. A treasure trove. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DCLI #19-1 Peak Rail Rambler (1986) (31 mins) This film starts with a look at Buxton site, then 17 minutes following 'Peak Rail Rambler' Buxton-Chinley trains as far as the viaducts at Chapel-en-le-Frith. and then the return journey with a call at the newly complete6d (1987) Peak Rail Cheedale Halt. The final 6 minutes look at architectural etc features down the route through Millers Dale as far as Monsal Head viaduct. Obviously filmed over a succession of sunny weekends because the centre trailer car is sometimes plain rail blue, and sometimes the outbound headboard is on the nearside lamp bracket rather than in the cab centre window. Doug makes brief cameo appearances and after 8 mins can be seen a couple of times at Blackwell, and then again at 19m 44s with a pint outside the Midland Hotel at Peak Forest.
