Headquarters Philippine Army (HPA), Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City October 4, 2016 “In my time, you’d have everything you need to fight effectively,” said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to some 800 Philippine Army (PA) officers and enlisted personnel in a gathering held at the PA Headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. In his keynote address, the Commander-in-Chief assured the uniformed men that they would be given priority in government spending. He showed them a magazine with a picture of a Glock 30, .45-caliber sidearm, that would be handed out to the Armed Forces. “Each and every one of you will receive it…I know how hard it is to keep the peace in the country and to protect its integrity,” the President said. He distributed three pistols during the ceremony. Furthermore, President Duterte mentioned that government allotted PhP 5 billion for the refurbishing of the Armed Forces hospital and for the acquisition of new military equipment, adding that he has a program dedicated for the paraplegic soldiers. On his administration’s war against illegal drugs, the President discussed how he was prompted to talk to the House Speaker and Senate President to call off the barangay elections this year, as there are thousands of drug pushers and manufactures, some of whom are barangay captains and police officers. “Until the last pusher is out of the streets, this campaign will continue. Even if it will cost me my life, my honor, and even the Presidency,” he said. The President requested the military officers and staff present to continue the fight against illegal drugs should the problem outlast him. “Kindly take care of your country, bahala na kayo kung ano ang gusto niyo. Tapusin ninyo yang problema kasi kawawa ang Pilipino,” he ended. * * Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom Twitter: @RTVMalacanang Google+: google.com/+RTVMalacanang Instagram: @RTVMalacanang
