Coastal Cliff Walk at MANGAWHAI + Sculptureum (Sculpture Walk) in Matakana, Auckland | NEW ZEALAND

Mangawhai is a just a short drive north of Auckland city. It's nestled between beautiful rolling farmlands and the pacific coast. On our way to the Mangawhai cliff walk, we stopped off first at Mangawhai Tavern to fuel up on some delicious food. This casual dining spot in Mangawhai overlooks the water and has a great menu filled with fabulous mixed cuisines. Excellent place to eat if you're in the area! Mangawhai Tavern Address: 2 Moir Street, Mangawhai 0505 , New Zealand Hours: 11:30am til late everyday After getting some food in our bellies, we headed out to Mangawhai Heads to attempt the cliff walk there. We struggled for a bit to actually find where to start the Mangawhai cliff walk but we eventually found our way by walking along the beach and asking people if we were on the right track! Thankfully we were. Stunning coastal views and a really cool beach too. It was such a scenic and enjoyable walk. We hope our video helps others find the place easier too! After our coastal cliff walk, we headed back to the car to look for our Airbnb. Little did we know that it was super close by and literally right next to the beach! The accommodation had an incredible ridge top view overlooking the surf beach and our host was really lovely. We even made friends with a couple of cute canines too on the property. Natalie's Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/32788641 The next day we made our way back to Auckland but we stopped off in Matakana along the way as we wanted to visit a place we found called Sculptureum. We read great reviews about their art gallery and gardens as well as the restaurant that's there called Rothko. We absolutely loved our meals at Rothko and would happily go back to Matakana just for the dining alone! The sculpture walk and gardens at Sculptureum was also a really awesome way to spend a peaceful afternoon. They feature 750 works of art from around the world in an impressive private indoor and outdoor gallery. It was a wonderfully unique and captivating experience. We didn't even know where all the time went as we were enjoying our stroll so much! Sculptureum & Rothko Address: 40 Omaha Flats Rd, Auckland, NZ Hours: Both are closed Mon - Wed.
