Join Aileen and Vanessa of Lumina Marketing Department as they take us on an online tripping inside Lumina Silay. The City of Silay is one of the cities comprising the Province of Negros Occidental. Because to its citizens' love for knowledge and works of art, together with its collection of heritage houses erected during the height of the Philippine sugar industry's boom, in where Negros was considered the center of the industry, Silay City was formerly regarded as the "Paris of Negros" and the "cultural and intellectual capital of Negros." Silay City is now one of the Philippines' top 25 tourist attractions, based on the information released by the Department of Tourism. Apart from it, Silay is also known as the center of arts, culture, and ecotourism in the western part of the Visayas region. It’s a melting pot of different cultures and languages as the population consists of a combination of Hiligaynon, Cebuano, and Tagalog speaking natives. One of the famous festivals in Silay is their Adobo Festival. Thousands of people, both locals and foreigners, visit Balay Negrense on 5 de Noviembre Street in Silay City to sample a variety of adobo prepared by the residents. Another festival that is being celebrated in the urban area is the Kansilay Festival which is being celebrated on the 12th of June every year. The celebration begins with the narrative of Kansilay, a princess who protected the community against invading pirates. She struggled for the sake of her people. They were successful in driving the pirates out, but the princess was killed in the process. In addition to this, Silay City also has a number of tourist spots that travelers should not missed when visiting the area. One of them is the Cinco de Nobiembre Marker. On November 5, 1898, this was the location of the first gunfight between Filipino and Spanish forces. It was also where Gen. Lacson's northern soldiers gathered and the Philippine flag was raised. Another tourist attraction is the Ramon Hofilena Museum where almost 1,000 Goya and Picasso paintings, as well as works by Dr. Jose Rizal, Juan Luna, and Felix Resurrection Hidalgo, Chinese porcelain, silver picture frames, antiquities, and a collection of tiny dolls, that are believed to be the smallest in the world that you might need a magnifying glass to check them out, are displayed. You can also found in this museum the Silay Printmaking, which was formed in 1970 and the oldest printmaking workshop outside of Manila. Meanwhile, if you want to go back to history, Balay Negrense is a must-visit as it is one of the largest ancestral houses in Silay, City. Living in the Paris of Negros is now achievable through the quality yet affordable house and lot from Lumina Silay. Lumina Silay has a very accessible location in Matagoy St. Brgy. Rizal, Silay City and it’s just 5 minutes away from the national road. It is also quite close to infrastructures and facilities like schools, workplaces, and various commercial centers. Lumina Silay started providing affordable house and lot to Silaynons in August 2018 and until now, it continues its goal to give every Juan the chance to have a space they can call their own.
