He formed the United Civil Front movement, and joined as a member of The Other Russia, a coalition opposing the administration and policies of Vladimir Putin. In 2008, he announced an intention to run as a candidate in the 2008 Russian presidential race, but failure to find a sufficiently large rental space to assemble the number of supporters that is legally required to endorse such a candidacy, led him to withdraw. Although he is widely regarded in the West as a symbol of opposition to Putin,[5] support for him as a candidate was low.[6] He is currently on the board of directors for the Human Rights Foundation. ►Playlists: http://bit.ly/2KAzzy3 ►Subscribe for my regular chess videos: http://goo.gl/zpktUK ►Support the channel by donating via PayPal: http://goo.gl/7HJcDq Kramnik Barnos at German Wikipedia [GFDL (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html), CC BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...) or CC BY-SA 3.0 de (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...)], via Wikimedia Commons Kasparov By Copyright 2007, S.M.S.I., Inc. - Owen Williams, The Kasparov Agency.
