Big shout out to https://www.homeoftone.co.uk for lending me this beautiful MGS2 from Millimetric Instruments, I love it so much! Here is the simplified diagram of the setup : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1146... As usual the Digitakt is providing the drums and the bass (which is a 808 sample played chromatically from the Keystep). It also controls the Ditto X4 looper with MIDI to make perfectly synced guitar loops. The Volca FM provides the synth sounds. But the main attraction here is the Empress Effects ZOIA! I made a patch that basically records your signal on the fly (in my case the guitar) and slices it into 8 chops. Then you can instantly play those chops from a keyboard, either in normal playback or in reverse. You can also adjust the pitch of all the chops at once. The whole thing is synced to the Digitakt MIDI clock so each chop is one beat long. So for example at the beginning of the track, the guitar intro is recorded and automatically chopped by the ZOIA, then I play those sample in reverse to create the main loop. At 1:59 I play those same chops but they're arranged in a different way to create a bridge. I repeat the process at the end : the little bit of guitar from 2:52 to 3:05 is recorded and chopped by the ZOIA (while being normally looped by the Ditto too) and then I play those chops but one octave higher. In other words, the ZOIA is crazyyyyyy. I'm really stoked about this, I've been wanting to do something similar since I've heard that it was possible on the Octatrack, and the ZOIA handles the thing perfectly. (Also I will put the patch on PatchStorage soon!) Otherwise the track is kinda normal. I recorded everything separately into my DAW where I added some reverb/delay and did some mixing. Then I mastered the result with Kramer MPX, Izotope Ozone and L3 Ultramaximizer. I also did some minor edits. Anyway thank you so much for watching once again! I have to say that I'm quite happy with this one, I hope you will enjoy it too. Love y'all, Aldo Download the track here : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1N1E...
