Over seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s. If you want to know if early detection, treatment, or prevention is possible? Then this conversation is for you. This week on KHON2’s Working For Hawaii: Unscripted, we sat down with Dr. Kore Liow, a neurologist and Alzheimer’s expert, for an educational and insightful conversation to answer the many questions about the disease. “In Hawaii alone, we think there are at least 31,000 people who suffer from Alzheimer’s,” Dr. Kore Liow with Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience said. “We think that’s about three times, maybe 90,000 people that care for or know someone affected by Alzheimer’s. So, we’re not just talking about the patients, but the caretakers themselves too.” Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative brain disease that typically manifests as short-term memory loss or asking the same questions again.
