Kamakshi Devi is described as the Goddess of Tranquility and balance. She is believed to protect the entire universe by annihilating the demonic energies and reinstating balance and peace to the universe.Some puranas state that Adi Shakthi is created by th 3 supreme gods sharing their power to demolish evil. Hence the names Tripura Sundari, Aditi the universal mother goddess.The song is preceeded by couple of poems praising goddess kamakshi’s radiant stature. Later the song narrates the story of Shiva burning the cupid god and Kamakshi reviving him. The Song, as the name says is a sthuthi meaning a praise of mother goddess. The poet continues describing her as one who has large eyes like lotus petals, one with a steady majestic walk like that of an elephant . She speaks mellifluously and sports a gentle (“manda”) smile (“hasane”) full of love (“sringaaraashraya”). She is of the form of single (“eka”) as well as many (“aneka”) mystic syllables She is the goddess of this world (“bhuvaneshwari”), the ever flowing (“eka”) stream of bliss (“ananda amrutha”), and she attaches herself to those who worship her with Single pointed mind (“Ekaagra Manolaya”) . She is the bestower of prosperity (“srikari”) and illumines the abode (“gruheshwari”) of EKAMRANATHA. She is goddess SHANKARI.
