from the mini-album 🎹 P-FUGA 9-16 for Pavel Kushnir (39), part of the cycle 🎹 24 P-FUGA for Pavel Kushnir (39) | (2026) Post-punk tribute to Pavel Kushnir (1984-2024), who died resisting the regime at thirty-nine. The cycle is inspired by the Rachmaninoff preludes he performed and by his anti-war novel Russian Cut. [Verse 1] Dawn comes slowly. Many pages behind. The story twists in small lines. A great sacrifice moves quietly through the night. [Verse 2] Three people stand. Half asleep. Something huge placed in their hands. Too heavy. Too sudden. Too large to understand. [Chorus] The night breaks. First guns speak. Far away. Still everyone hears. No music left. No smiles left. Only the sound of metal. [Verse 3] The yard goes dark. Eyes adjust slowly. Boots in the dust. Voices shouting. Lines broken. Groups lost. Everyone running through fences and gates. [Verse 4] Dust and light. Dust and dark. Cries everywhere. Bursts of fire. The mind cannot hold this chaos torn open in the night. [Chorus] The night breaks. First guns speak. Far away. Still everyone hears. No music left. No smiles left. Only the sound of metal. [Bridge] He sits on the edge of a trench. Looks at the stars. Suddenly laughs hard and bitter. [Verse 5] Why the same fate. Why the same end. Why the same road for everyone. [Verse 6] A fire burns. Old men smoke. Young voices laugh. A kettle boils again. The mill keeps turning. Earth keeps falling on the lid of an unseen box. [Verse 7] Maybe no box. Maybe snow will cover the face. Flowers under the cheek. Legs folded in the frozen ground. [Outro] Three shapes rise from the sand. Three small hills. Three grey hats. Three thin sticks. Life waits. Who will allow it.
