from the mini-album 🎹 P-FUGA 9-16 for Pavel Kushnir (39), part of the cycle 🎹 24 P-FUGA for Pavel Kushnir (39) | (2026) Post-punk tribute to Pavel Kushnir (1984-2024), who died resisting the regime at thirty-nine. The cycle is inspired by the Rachmaninoff preludes he performed and by his anti-war novel Russian Cut. [Verse 1] He says the end is near. Quiet voice. Calm face. He spoke with a major who came back from the fire of war. [Verse 2] The whole line moves backward. He knows it. No doubt. Now they stand face to face not painted targets but living men. [Chorus] By autumn it should end. That is the plan. That is the hope. But hope sounds weak in the cold air. [Verse 3] A pack of wolves. One breath. One long cry. The young one runs between them licking their faces not knowing the rule. [Verse 4] Night after night we move. Like animals. Listening. Ready to rise on all fours in the dark. [Chorus] By autumn it should end. That is the plan. That is the hope. But hope sounds weak in the cold air. [Bridge] Red blindness fills the eyes. The whole world fades away. A voice cuts through the throat like a blade in shadow. [Verse 5] Save yourself he says. We may still be needed. He has a plan another plan waiting to speak. [Verse 6] But he never tells it. Beside me a man falls quietly into a grey heap on the ground. [Outro] The coat is wet. Boots in the mud. Something pale clings to the leather. Hands searching for small papers in the dark.
