We have seen ‘Balkan’ music played by Western European bands, where authentic voices, actual Balkan musicians could have played. How is the Balkan brand appropriated and how to make way for authentic voices? What prevents the region’s musicians from entering a broader market, and what can the industry do to grant them passage?
