Location: Raven Meols Lane Crossing Nickname: Eccles Line: Merseyrail Northern Line (Southport - Hunts Cross) Crossing Type: MCB-CCTV Lights: 4x Unipart Dorman LEDs Alarms: 2 Clifford & Snell YO3/BT yodalarms Barriers: 4x SPX Rail Systems Timetable used: Formby Date of Video Capture: 09/03/2024 This crossing is located on Raven Meols Lane just right on top of the dividing point of Queens Road, with Formby Station located just around the corner from this crossing. I believe the nickname of 'Eccles' comes from the long-gone signal box which was demolished around 1994 when the current installation was placed here having replaced wheel-operated gates after Merseyrail's IECC came into use during that year. This crossing possesses a pair of Clifford & Snell YO3/BT alarms here which are nice to see especially as they sound pretty healthy, so hopefully these stay for as long as they can. The first closure sees a brief glitch as the second set of barriers lower, and I ended up missing the activation within the second closure as I rather inconveniently checked maps as I was initially expecting a double stay within the first clip. This video mostly contains Class 777 action, minus the first closure which consisted of a 6 car formation of 507015 and 507033, It was pretty windy on the day when I was recording, so I apologise for the noise caused by the wind.
