This week at Turrets & Crowsteps we finally tackled the kitchen floor and asbestos tiles. What started as a simple question — what’s under that old vinyl? — turned into a full archaeological dig through layers of modern flooring, screed and old adhesive. Underneath it all we discovered the original flagstone kitchen floor, likely dating back to the early life of the house. Beautiful local stone flags … but also heavily damaged after decades hidden under later, non-breathable floors.
