The infectious cumbia and guaracha rhythms and his killer electric criollo guitar lines have left a legacy of hits which have been recently reissued on the widely respected Analog Africa label. His son, Berardo Hernandez Jr - known as Manzanita Jr - today follows in his late father’s footsteps and keeps the psychedelic mastery alive, performing regularly in Peru and Latin America. In July 2024 he brings the music of Manzanita to the United Kingdom directly from Peru for the first time in a six-piece band with stalwarts of the UK Peruvian Cumbia scene, Los Chichanos. ABOUT LOS CHICHANOS: The band behind Edinburgh’s underground fiesta scene, Los Chichanos formed to heat up the UK with energetic Latin music.
