BEFORE YOU START Review the included Quick Start Guide for detailed instructions, tips, and tricks. Use only Crayola regular, washable, or metallic crayons in the Crayon Melter unit. Other crayon types and brands may affect performance. Use the handy Label Cutter to remove wrappers from crayons. Remove label and rub away any leftover adhesive (white residue) from the crayon before placing it in the Crayon Melter. Break the crayon into 3 or more pieces before placing in the Crayon Melter. Don’t load the unit with more than a full crayon’s worth of broken pieces. This will cause the Melter unit to overfill and affect performance. Have an adult attach the power cord to the Crayon Melter. Have an adult plug in the adapter. The LED light turns red to green when the Melter is ready. This takes about 1 ½ minutes. Use the included Practice Sheets or scrap paper before drawing on your intended surface. This will give you a chance to perfect your skills! FOR BEST RESULTS Hold the Crayon Melter straight up and down with the tip flat on the paper. Tilting or angling the Crayon Melter will affect writing performance. Don’t forget to close the cap! Do not turn the unit upside down or lay it on its side. For a thick, consistent line, color slowly and steadily. For each new crayon added, the LED light will remain green. The Crayon Melter will take about 1 minute to re-heat. Draw on a piece of scrap paper to flush through some of the old color before you get to the new color. Plan ahead! Try using lighter colors before dark for easy color transitions. For faster color change, use small pieces of crayon. It’s always easy to add more! For a marbleized color effect, load different colors into the Crayon Melter at the same time. To avoid flaking, use the Crayon Melter on thicker paper surfaces like heavy construction paper, poster board, and foam core. It’s also great for decorating, cardboard, chalkboard, glass, wood, ceramics, or art canvases. CLEANING TIPS Regularly wipe the Crayon Melter tip with a dry paper towel to clear wax buildup. If you see hardened wax in the top of the tube, use the included Cleaning Tool. Unplug and let cool before cleaning the cap and tube. Open the lid, and slowly twist and turn the tool inside the tube just below the opening. Do not force the tool down the tube!
