New Balance Zante Pursuit - After 100 Miles

I've been running in the New Balance Zante Pursuit for 100 miles now, and it's a shoe that has been impressing me more and more over time. Given the design, the materials, and the unique but seemingly less-functional outsole, I thought that perhaps this was a shoe meant to compete in the lifestyle runner category. But as the transluscent rubber has started to wear down, it's gotten grippier. And as I've grown accustomed to the 6mm heel drop and the thinner amount of midsole cushioning (in other words, as my feet have toughened up a bit), the heightened amount of road feel has become enjoyable, much like a stiffer suspension in a sports car isn't exactly comfortable, but a necessary prerequisite to performance. There have been a couple quirks with the wear on the rubber outsole, and I think I would have preferred an approach similar to the Epic React or to what Hoka does in terms of the amount of rubber on the outsole. But those are minor complaints. The upper is super stretchy and comfortable, and it's been holding up quite well so far. It's a package that isn't going to be for everyone, but if you're looking for a more minimalistic shoe, I think this is a shoe worth looking at. Thanks for watching!
