...Abandoned temples scattered around Bangkok are great storytellers of the expansion of the city through the ages and are first-class antiques for us to conduct an in-depth study through scraps of cement and the corrosion of a piece of wood. When an abandoned temple becomes dilapidated, its true core is revealed for us all to see. We might find various styles of masonry that have never been found in temples that are still alive. These temples need to always be complete, going through a restoration process all the time. Hence, studying abandoned temples might lead to the resurrection of broken bricks, towers of cement scraps, and arts inside churches and Buddha image halls that are still fascinating.
