This route is shared between the Wakefield Line and the top of the Midland Main Line, and the Holmes Chord towards Rotherham Central branches off towards the right at the adjacent junction, which also branches off into the Booths scrapyard where various retired trains and stock meet their fate. There is quite a large footbridge here which provides a great variety of views and shots of trains, though it is pretty litter-strewn, and apart from the crossing floodlight the area is dimly lit. Services from Northern and Cross Country can be seen, as well as a passenger-less stock move between Newton Heath and Heaton depots. This crossing has very loud alarms due to the industrial nature, and one of these, despite sounding very similar to the one it replaced, is pretty new as of the time of filming. Since the closure of Sheffield's signalling centre, this level crossing is now believed to be controlled from York Rail Operations Centre. Two trains in this video followed each other fairly closely, and the crossing was taken out of 'auto-raise' to keep the barriers lowered for the second, although this seemed to have been forgotten about briefly as the crossing took a fairly long time to raise after the second train passed, but it eventually raised. The road here is very uneven and riddled with potholes and dips, probably allowing for a lot of dust be thrown up from industrial traffic in the week.
