It’s a 1 hr 45 min paper, and we’re answering **on the question paper itself**—no extra sheets or calculators needed. 🖊️ Important instructions: Use black/dark blue pen (pencil only for diagrams) Don’t use erasable pens/correction fluid Avoid brand names for hardware/software 🧠 Topics we covered: 🔹 Q1 – File Sizes & Compression: Not a unit? Answer: bot Types of compression: lossy, lossless Benefits of reducing file size: saves space, transmits faster, reduces bandwidth. 🔹 Q2 – Smartphones: Inputs: touchscreen, mic | Outputs: screen, speaker Storage: uses SSD—fast, light, no moving parts. 🔹 Q3 – Character Sets: ASCII vs Unicode Binary/hex for A (65), m (109), y (121) Logical right shift: loss of bits = not exact ÷4 Binary addition: 'T' + 't' = 11001000 🔹 Networking Concepts: Packet switching: header, payload, trailer Parallel full duplex = fast, 2-way; drawbacks: data skew, crosstalk, errors Other methods: serial simplex/duplex 🔹 FDE Cycle: Fetch: PC, MAR Decode: CU, MDR → CIR → opcode/operand Execute: Accumulator, MDR CPU buses: Address, Data, Control 🔹 Upgrading CPU: Dual-core 2.4GHz → 3.5GHz = faster execution, better performance 🔹 Embedded System: Dedicated system in larger device (e.g., washing machine) 🔹 Assembly Language & Translators: Translator: Assembler Binary too long?
