Pro teams will use this technique for team time trials. The double pace line Riders form a continuous chain motion where once a rider is past the front wheel of the rider they're overtaking, they will peel off. Remembering not to surge in a paceline is very important to not anger your riding buddies. Do you ever ride in a pace line with your group?
