Filmed on February 25, 2026 in Southern Ontario, this video documents a winter walk along an abandoned rural road now closed to motor vehicle traffic. With a fresh cover of snow, the road has become a quiet walking trail — a place shaped as much by absence as by presence. As Lana and I walk the entire length of the road, we stop to observe animal tracks etched into the snow and listen for the distant calls of migrating Tundra Swans overhead. The stillness is striking. Once traveled, the road now carries only tracks and traces — signs of wildlife and the lingering imprint of past travelers. There is something both peaceful and unsettling about walking a place that has been left behind. The silence, the snow, and the long winding corridor create an atmosphere where the landscape feels almost haunted by its own history.
