State investigators seized 220 pounds of illegal cannabis products worth $1.4 million from a Brooklyn smoke shop on Rogers Avenue adjacent to a day care. The shop opened in fall and was shut down three weeks ago after a Jan. 30 raid found vacuum-sealed cannabis flower packaged to resemble cookie brands, along with edibles, concentrates and pre-rolls. Neighbors had complained of strong odors, and officials said the products were illegal, untested and unlicensed, violating age-verification and visibility rules. The enforcement, part of a broader effort in Brooklyn and Rhinebeck, sealed an illicit grow-and-processing site in Rhinebeck on Feb. 10, yielding 105 pounds of cannabis flower, 73 pounds of illegal edibles and 5 pounds of concentrate valued at more than $900,000. Overall, more than $2 million in illegal products were recovered. Twenty-two illegal shops closed in 2026, part of 557 storefronts shuttered statewide. Residents can report suspected unlicensed activity at cannabis.ny.gov report-an-incident. Like 👍 Subscribe 🔔 and stay informed. Visit NHENews.COM for more top headlines.
