This week, I prepare the base using Apoxie Sculpt to secure the copper pipe and kick off the mosaic process with rich smalti glass. This piece will feature a stunning gradient from deep blue to turquoise, with swirling mosaic lines that spiral and shimmer around the form. Using techniques like sdoppiamento (the art of splitting and rejoining lines), I aim to give this sculpture a sense of movement and unity as it climbs toward the sky.
