Retake: This time with Fujifilm camera with better quality AND motor room. THIS VIDEO WARNING!! This is fairly easily found in Bracknell, but HERE IS A WARNING... "The upper floors are a dangerous place. Even I cannot believe that I ventured up that broken ladder into the motor room, with a 5 floor drop one side, and a large drop onto concrete stairs the other side. Also, the 415V panel on the wall is open and could be live? If you don't know what you are doing you'll probably DIE here. Enjoy the video, but don't come here is my advice" -Matt's tour of Bracknell's car parks and Lifts (UK)- Why Bracknell? My Nan lives in Bracknell. During my childhood (early to late 80s) she used to take me round all the lifts. Most of them scared me but may be this is how my interest evolved!? Today (Sept 2008) I went back round them all to see if they still exist. Being Bracknell, nothing ever changes. Town centre is dead, 60s/70s buildings. The whole centre is in need of knocking down and modernising! Not many major brand shops - most have moved away. --This video-- In the distance, a derelict car park! Actually, the basement and ground are still in use by a nearby office, but the rest of it is gated off including the lifts and stairwell. It was easy to overcome the gates - just jump over the dividing barrier between the parking bays. This took me into an area closed off to the public and completely abandoned! The lifts and stairwell on the next level were accessable, and what a sight!! Graffiti everywhere, smashed windows, smashed doors, lift doors missing, pigeons, pigeon sh*t, flies. This place gave me the creeps! On the top level the lift machine room was open. This time I went up the ladder which was only fixed at the base. The pigeons all legged it (or 'winged' it). Not a place that I ever want to venture into again!
