A: Route 911 connects Playas del Coco to Potrero. Rough dirt road through forest and hills, approximately 12 km. Alternative to main highway route. Q: Is 4x4 required? A: Yes, especially in green season (May-November). High clearance essential. Road has steep sections, water crossings, and deep ruts. Difficulty increases with rain. Q: How long does it take? A: 30-45 minutes in dry conditions. Can take longer after rain or with traffic. Main highway route takes about 1 hour for comparison. Q: What's road condition like? A: Unpaved dirt track with rocky sections. Several water crossings. Steep hills with loose surface. Condition varies by season and maintenance schedule. Some one-lane sections. Q: Are there facilities along the way? A: No services between towns. Bring water and supplies. Cell service spotty in places. Few houses along route but mostly remote. Q: When's best time to drive it? A: Early morning before daily rains (if green season). Dry season (December-April) easiest driving. Avoid after heavy rain when crossings rise.
