Over the years, the band has become an essential part of the school’s cultural life, offering students the opportunity to develop not only as musicians but also as leaders. Establishment: The Pushpadana Girls' College Eastern Cadet Band was formed in 2019, with the vision of creating a platform for students to showcase their musical talents and develop strong leadership skills. Guidance and Coaching: Under the expert guidance of Madam Sherin Senanayaka, Madam Shashikala, and Madam Lanka Siriwardhane, the band began its journey. Mr. Chaminda Dharmasena has served as the dedicated coach since its inception, offering unwavering support and expertise to ensure the band’s growth and success. Achievements : All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition: In their very first year, the band participated in the All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition in 2019 under the leadership of Sergeant Upeksha Wikramasinghe. The band proudly earned 11th place, a remarkable achievement for a first-time entry. Additionally, they were awarded 1st place in the Director's Test, showcasing the strength of their training and discipline. Provincial Selection Test (2022): In 2022, the band participated in the Provincial Selection Test, where they achieved 1st place in Central Province and secured 2nd place among all schools across Sri Lanka, marking a significant milestone in their competitive journey. All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition (2022): The band also competed in the All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition in 2022, securing 11th place under Sergeant Rathnayaka N.S.W. Their consistent performances reflected the dedication and growth of the band over the years. Provincial Selection Test (2023): In 2023, the band continued to excel, winning 2nd place in the Central Province and achieving 7th place in the island-wide competition. Their performances in these tests demonstrated their ongoing improvement and competitiveness. All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition (2023): At the prestigious All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition held at the Rantambe Training Center, the band proudly earned 5th place under the leadership of Sergeant Herath H.M.C.J.K., further cementing their reputation as one of the top bands in the country. Selection Test (2024): In the first stage of the 2024 Selection Test, the band secured an impressive 2nd place, showcasing their continued progress and determination. All-Island Eastern Cadet Band Competition (2024): The band participated once again in the All-Island Competition in 2024, earning 8th place under Sergeant Rithu K.D.N.D., continuing their tradition of excellence in national competitions.
