Abstract: In the era of LLMs, accurately evaluating their capabilities has become a crucial task especially in safety-critical domains such as medicine. In this talk, I will first briefly talk about what it means to evaluate someone's/something's understanding. Then we will touch upon previous projects from my group that focuses on question-answering for diverse medical modalities. The final section will describe more recent research that tries to evaluate AI agents, followed by a summary. Bio: Edward Choi is an associate professor of Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI, KAIST. He received his PhD in Georgia Tech, under the supervision of Prof. Jimeng Sun, focusing on interpretable deep learning methods for electronic health records. Prior to joining KAIST, he worked on developing and analyzing medical prediction models at Google. His current research interests include question answering for multi-modal medical records, domain-specific reasoning LLMs, conversational agents, and user modeling with LLMs.
