At the backyard of our house, several taro tubers (an edible roots) had sprouted well. When I cut open the bulbs and tried to scrape out the little sprouts, it took me almost an entire hour. Meanwhile, the foolish pair kept splashing around in the mud with great enthusiasm. By the time I hauled back the heavy basket and herded these two silly fellows 🐂🐂 along with me, I was completely exhausted. After cutting the taro pieces, you should cook them together with raw rice, sugar, fennel seeds, water, onions, coconut milk, and chopped pandan leaves. Once it has finished cooking, let it cool. Then mix in the sliced fruits, raisins, and cashews to make it delicious. 🍇🥝🍓🍊 The lunch table was filled with taro fritters, pumpkin curry, 🥕stir-fried carrots, purple cabbage salad, noodles 🍜 (the leftovers from Brother’s breakfast 😬), and a pot of white rice cooked with fried chicken. When Father went for a second serving, it gave me a wonderful sense of joy. For the past several days, nonstop rain has been pouring over the whole of Sri Lanka. Landslides… floods… storms… loss of human lives… loss of animal lives… Day by day, the information brought by television, radio, and all social media grew increasingly alarming and grim. Even though everything seemed on the verge of destruction, my heart trembled for all the living creatures struggling to survive. I watched on with calm detachment, sending blessings and good wishes to the entire universe. 🧘🏽♀️ After confirming the situation with the government authorities, Brother and I prepared meal parcels for the entire village that had been displaced. We had finished cooking at dawn, yet carrying and loading such a large number of parcels was far from easy for just seven or eight of us. But then, one by one, familiar faces; young and old, arrived to lend a hand. Their quiet generosity, their willingness to help, added a deeper grace to our act of giving. It felt as though our good deed gathered more strength with every pair of helping hands. 🌼 Embrace the nature… 🌿 Be good, do good, enjoy this flying life and depart… 👣 May triple gems bless you!!!
