In this video exercise based physiotherapist and advanced hatha yoga practitioner Simon Borg-Olivier instructs (and demonstrates) how to isolate the rectus abdominis and the external abdominal oblique muscles in a sequence that allows you to 'roll' the abdomen sideways in the classical yoga kriya (cleansing exercise) nauli. Once mastered this exercise has been shown to be excellent in promoting the health of your internal organs of digestion, elimination, reproduction and immunity. It also can be used to relieve lower back pain, clear your sinuses, reduce stress and counter hunger. Simon learnt this exercise in 1969 from the Rhodesian Olympic athlete and yogi Basil Brown. Nauli is discussed in detail in our online course on the 'Applied Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga' at http://anatomy.yogasynergy.com . Related information and many practical exercises are taught and shown in our other online course entitled 'Teacher Training Essentials: Yoga Fundamentals' at http://fundamentals.yogasynergy.com . The full (and high resolution) version of this video can be obtained at http://yogasynergy.com/main/beginner-...
