Join me on a 4K HDR walking tour around the iconic Cologne Cathedral (German: Kölner Dom), exploring its stunning surroundings and hidden gems! In this video, we start at the grand entrance of the Cathedral, make our way around the building to the side view from the Main Train Station, and then head towards the Cathedral Choir and the Baptismal Font. Along the way, we'll uncover remnants of Roman history, like the Roman Harbor Street and the Dionysus Mosaic. We'll visit the Roncalliplatz, take a look at the South Portal, and explore the Roman City Wall in a parking garage. I'll show you the spot of the american-german tank duell at the end of WW2. The tour ends back at the Burgwall, providing a full circle of Cologne's rich history and architecture. Cologne is a city in Germany, which is over 2000 years old! It was founded by Romans. It was initially founded by the Romans as a simple settlement and transformed into a full-fledged Roman colony in 50 AD. The Gothic cathedral is Cologne's most important landmark and was built starting in 1248. It wasn't completed until 1880, including a construction freeze between the 16th and 19th centuries due to financial problems and declining interest in the Gothic style.
