Some snippets from a recent flight in the Skyranger Nynja with Dave Lord of Wanafly, at Deenethorpe Airfield. The Skyranger is such a great aircraft to fly. I heard yesterday that my kit is on the way, and I can’t wait to put it together and begin to preparing to fly it around the world. In future videos, I’ll be including my intercom and ATC chatter, so you can actually hear a little more, but for this video I thought it was nice to be able to see the performance and how responsive the aircraft is. Take off distances are tiny, and stall speeds are amazingly low. The Skyranger does suffer a little from adverse yaw, so rudder control is quite important (don’t look at my feet!!). There is also a very interesting parallax kind of effect, particularly on landing, where the offset position of the prop spinner relative to the seating position makes it look like you’re pointing down the centre-line — when you’re not. It’s something I need to work on, as I didn’t intend to touchdown in a crabbed position, which I clearly do in the video.
