The educational video is intended to draw attention to the problem of facilitator cueing in Facilitated Communication (FC). FC is also known as Rapid Prompting Method (RPM). This is a critique of a "growing pains" video where RPM founder Soma Mukhopadhyay works to "wean" her student from the letter board. The original video is available at this link: • Soma®️RPM There is no reliably controlled evidence to prove proponent claims that FC/RPM are independent forms of communication. Instead, these test show that facilitator and not their clients are producing the messages through visual, auditory, and physical cueing. Organizations such as American Speech/Language/Hearing Association, American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and others oppose its use citing lack of scientific evidence, prompt dependency, facilitator cueing and control over letter selection and other harms such as false allegations of abuse.
