Yorkshire Dales Country Walk - Coverdale - Carlton to Horsehouse round

Our video is a guided walk in the dale of Coverdale in the Yorkshire Dales. We start in Carlton and walk down Goodman Gill towards West Scafton then make our way uphill to the hamlet of Swineside. We then make our way downhill to Hindlethwaite Hall and cross the River Cover to Horsehouse. We then return to the River Cover and follow the river to Gammersgill and then over the fields back to Carlton where we then visit the Mel Beck waterfall and the round hill (motte) at the back of the Foresters Arms.This is an easy to moderate walk through fields, on tracks, lowland paths by the River Cover and some small road. There are some steep short inclines and declines. Elevation: Lowest point 197 metres (649 feet) highest point 317 metres (1041 feet). Approx 7 miles allow 2 hours 45 minutes using OS Explorer map OL30 Yorkshire Dales, Northern and Central areas. Wensleydale, Swaledale. Start point: Carlton car park.
