I started the day in Katzrin, after spending a few nights there recovering and waiting out the rain. I wasn’t fully back in shape yet, so staying put felt right. Big thanks to my French friend and the hospitality I experienced there — being sick on the road is never easy, but this place made it lighter. I explored parts of the Golan Heights earlier, mostly in fog, seeing its barren landscapes and starting to understand why this plateau has been so strategically important. It’s a complicated place, politically and historically. Claimed, occupied, disputed — depending on who you ask. On the ground, it just feels heavy and exposed. Today’s ride was around 30–40 km. The distance didn’t really matter. What mattered was where the road led. I visited Capernaum, the town associated with Jesus. To be honest, it didn’t move me much. But then I continued riding, listening to the Sermon on the Mount in my headphones, and climbed up to the Mount of Beatitudes. That place completely broke me. Standing on that hill above the Sea of Galilee, in one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever seen, something hit very deep. I’m not a fully practicing Christian. I was raised Catholic, but I don’t travel here for religion alone. I come because these places shaped humanity and the lives of millions of people. Whether you believe these words came from a man, a prophet, or something else entirely doesn’t really matter. The message does. Kindness. Humility. Seeing others as human beings. I cried. I fell to my knees. I prayed. I was grateful just to be there. Somehow, even when I think my days can’t get more intense, this place keeps proving me wrong. The weather was perfect, the parrots were loud, the lake below was calm, and the words of Jesus felt alive. The Mount of Beatitudes is without question one of the highlights of this entire journey.
