Sawed-Off // Hel Rifle // Biotracker Sawed-Off // Veruta // Burst Sentry Game version: R8 Patch-2024-03-07 Tried R5D1 main-only solo, almost got it (died on 99.5% extract RIP) • [GTFO] [ALT://R5D1] solo... almost This is notoriously one of the longest missions in GTFO. Even with teams of four, it can often take 2, 2.5 hours to get through. That's the main reason we've put off doing it for so long, but we got it on the first try, so it didn't end up consuming much time after all. Aside from the length, though, I think the mission itself is pretty fun. SEC has some decently unique hazards. It's also the final mission we'd yet to do where there's still some first-iteration strategizing to do, which was fun. The only other missions are R5E1 and R8E2 (we have at least an initial strategy for those) and R7C3 (we have the entire strategy nailed, just have to do it without blundering). My main fear was the reactor shutdown and subsequent error alarm. On my solo main-only runs, it felt almost like a neverending surge of shadows and shadow giants, so I was scared to do it in max infection here. It ended up being absurdly easy. I think we got lucky wave spawns for the most part, where they spawned behind us or to our side, because we barely encountered enemies on the run to extract. Outside of the extract, the main threat imo is the shadow respawn zones, particularly the one with the shadow scout, and particularly on the way back after finishing SEC. You have full infectious fog, one person with a fog turbine. If the shadow scout wakes up early, then not only is there a scout wave and a huge room of shadows/shadow giants, the room deeper in will probably wake up, and you'll be trapped in infectious fog, possibly with low hp, surrounded. We take our time, and c-foam tripmine the scout very patiently to minimize risk. I was concerned about resources, especially since we woke up some rooms and lost meds/ammo (I didn't even know the charger scout zone in SEC had a tank). When we fight the P-mother ammo is super scarce, but it works out cleanly. As it turns out we actually had 2 use ammo behind us, I just forgot about it. And when we eventually got back to reactor we had way more resources than I expected, so we had a solid margin for error beyond what happened. Something was wrong with my game/computer, because whenever I tried to alt-tab GTFO froze and I got the "Windows is waiting for this program to respond..." message as the game turned white. Near the end before the reactor shutdown I accidentally hit windows key and do this 2.5 hours in, super scary. P-Mother strat: c-foam it with tripmine, then double sawed off to try to kill before baby spawning. But if babies come, Idiotnet has veruta. we forgot to clear the adjacent shadow respawn room before starting surge alarm. x2 giant shadows mixed in with the surge rip 00:00 Drop 4:32 Class V M Alarm 9:05 bonk 20:22 Class VI Alarm (mixed chargers) 30:00 blunder 37:57 Class V Alarm 50:18 Class III S Cluster Alarm (mixed chargers, x7 S scans) 55:00 Tank, Giant Chargers 1:07:26 Pull Shadow Scout Zone 1:25:47 Class S VI Alarm 1:33:08 blunder (tank, giant chargers) 1:41:27 Class S Surge Alarm 1:49:49 Open P-Mother Zone 1:51:31 P-Mother 1:58:50 Infectious Fog Rises 2:43:29 Class V Alarm (shadows) 2:45:30 Error Alarm (shadows) 2:47:00 Extract Hold
